The dissecting lab for student preparation exercises was closed in November 2016 by the Institute for Hazardous Substances Research (IGF) in Bochum due to excessive formaldehyde emissions. This action resulted in an outrage on the student body and the media. The Ruhr University Bochum decided to rebuild the dissecting labs and to comply with the legal requirements, and commissioned the WIP to plan the so-called anatomical technology with the aim of reducing the formaldehyde emission values as far as possible below the permissible threshold value of 0.37mg/m³. The anatomical technology system developed by WIP, which also includes ventilation technology and important ergonomic facilitation for the users, was integrated into the new concept of the dissection room, and in April 2017 the IGF and the regional health & safety control center were invited to officially test the formaldehyde emissions again under realistic dissecting course conditions. Each dissecting table was measured several times. The dissecting room was fully occupied. The reproducible results of an average of 0.06mg/m³ in the breathing area of students and lecturers (still below the limit values of the WHO of 0.1mg/m³) are due to the WIP development work. The control report can be downloaded from this website. The problem of the excessively high formaldehyde emissions in the dissecting labs of anatomical institutes is now solved with the use of the WIP anatomy technique system.

November 2015: WIP realizes a planning project in Sohar, Oman
Realized planning of the anatomy institute at the Oman Medical College in Sohar, Oman with extracted dissecting tables incl. laminar flow fresh air supply above each dissecting table for full elimination of formaldehyde concentration in the breathing area of the users.
October 2016: WIP plans for the University of Freiburg, Germany
The University of Freiburg / Germany realizes the new building of the Institute of Anatomy and Cell Biology.
WIP was granted the special planning of the anatomy furnishing (gross anatomy, dissecting, cadaver transport, fridge & freezing cells, cadaver storage, embalming, air extraction & fresh air supply) and mainly the reduction of formaldehyde concentration in all departments.
Our long lasting experience of this very special field was honored by the State University Building Authorities.
January 2015: WIP plans for the University of Aarhus, Denmark
The aim was the planning of an institute of anatomy according to highest technical standards, user-ergonomy and health & safety aspects (elimination of formaldehyde-concentrations in the breathing zone of the users). This was realized by our knowledge of international technologies, standards and application methods. Please study the attached report!
